Yes, It’s Possible: How To Get Longer Lashes Naturally

I’ve always envied people with naturally long and full lashes. All they need is a drop of mascara, and they will look like a million bucks. They don’t need to spend their money on false lashes, lash lifts, and eyelash extensions. But even if you weren’t born with stunning and wispy lashes, did you know that there are still ways to grow longer lashes naturally?

Yes, you’ve read that right – naturally. You don’t have to invest in an expensive eyelash serum, as you probably already have most of these products at home. But before we share with you the best home remedies for longer and thicker lashes, you have to remember one thing; consistency is key. If you want any of these methods to work, you’ll have to give them enough time, and actually use them on a regular basis. So here are some of our favorite products for eyelash growth.

Petroleum jelly

Petroleum jelly, commonly known as Vaseline, is a great occlusive moisturizer. A lot of people swear by it when it comes to eyelash growth. However, it isn’t known how or if vaseline actually impacts the growth of our eyelashes. But one thing is certain: it will moisturize your lashes, making them much less likely to break. They will appear fuller, thicker, and longer. Apply a small amount of vaseline with the help of a Q-tip each night to your lash line.

Castor oil to get longer lashes naturally

Castor oil can be a great natural remedy for growing both your eyelashes and eyebrows. This precious oil is rich in a chemical compound known as ricinoleic acid, which is known to help reverse hair loss. But besides this, castor oil is, just like vaseline, an occlusive. That means that it will additionally hydrate your lashes and/or eyebrows. We have to warn you that castor oil won’t work as fast as some people may like. You have to use it religiously for at least 3 months every night to see some improvement in the length and fullness of your eyelashes.

Aloe vera

Most of us know that, when applied to the skin, aloe vera helps soothe skin irritations and burns. But did you know that it can also help you to grow your lashes? The juice of this versatile plant is rich in vitamins and minerals, so the benefits that you can expect from it are pretty much endless. It will not only help your lashes to grow longer but also condition them and hydrate the skin around your eyes. Apply a small amount of 100% natural aloe vera gel to your eyelashes every night, and expect the first results in 3 to 4 months.

Bonus tip: Latisse

While this isn’t the most “natural” way to grow your eyelashes, it is the only product that is scientifically proven to work. Latisse is the only FDA-approved medication for eyelash growth. It was primarily meant as a drug to treat glaucoma, however, researchers found out that one of the side effects is lash growth. It delivers its full result when used daily for at least two months. The biggest downside is that Latisse is only available by prescription.
