Rainy Day Hairstyles That Will Help You Survive Spring

Spring has sprung-ish! Slightly warmer days are fast approaching, everything will soon be blooming, and we are getting out of our January blues. However, spring is also the season of unpredictable weather and sudden rainfall. While I have nothing against a little bit of rain while I’m cozied up in my apartment, spring rain, combined with weather and my chronic ability to forget to bring an umbrella with me, is the perfect recipe to completely ruin my hairstyle for that day. Enter rainy day hairstyles.

I don’t know about you, but whenever my hair looks like a complete mess I can’t help but be in a bad mood. Especially if I put some effort into it while I was getting ready that morning. That’s why I became the master of rain-proof spring hairstyles. Here is a list of my favorite ones.

The Ballerina Bun

If you want to feel feminine, classy, and chic, while still wearing a waterproof hairstyle, then the ballerina look is the way to go! This hairstyle allows a lot of your own creativity to shine. You can place the bun high or low on your head, and you can accessorize it with different things such as braids, scrunchies, or hairpins.

Knotted Ponytail

A traditional ponytail can easily get ruined in the rain as well. Therefore, to make your ponytail rainproof, you can knot it into a braid. This style is simple and casual, and you can wear it to most day-to-day occasions. You can play around with the type of braid that you are using. From the traditional braid to fishtail braids, everything will work with this look.

Why are we allowing the topknot hair trend to die? Remember when everyone was wearing a topknot? Miley Cyrus even had a Twitter account for her iconic blonde topknot. It was the look, and in addition to that, it was incredibly easy to recreate. The topknot isn’t only a great option for rainy days, but also for those days during the week when you are feeling just a little bit too lazy to actually wash your hair.

The Wet Look

If you are feeling a little bit braver and more trendy, then let’s actually embrace the weather and go for a wet look. Tease the roots of your hair for a little bit of extra lift and the top, part it to the side, and then add lots of mousse while scrunching it. This look is bold and edgy, and it can be a great going-out look. It looks amazing with more masculine style clothes, such as suits and oversized white button-downs.

Space Buns

If you want a more youthful and laid-back look, then space buns can be a great option. Space buns, or double buns, have been a favorite hairstyle amongst younger beauty influencers for years now. But who says that you can’t rock this look even if you are slightly older? I love to wear space buns when I’m heading out to the gym, or I want to do a casual activity like going grocery shopping or getting my coffee.
