Feeling That Pre-Springtime Lethargy? Ways To Boost Up Your Energy Levels 

Are you feeling lethargic? If the answer is yes, you can be more than certain that you aren’t the only one. Feeling lethargic in spring is incredibly common, and reportedly, 50 to 75% of people experience this pre-springtime lethargy. This lethargy includes symptoms such as weakness, weariness, irritability, sensitivity to changes in the weather, painful joints, headaches, and dizziness. The cause of this condition is still unclear, however, there are some easy ways to combat it.

Get Your Vitamin D

Vitamin D is incredibly important for our overall health. And considering the fact that most of us weren’t out in the sun during the winter months, there is a pretty high chance that your vitamin D levels might be low. Vitamin D deficiency is the most common nutrient deficiency in adults, and it can cause symptoms such as lethargy, muscle pain, weakness, headaches, and even depression. If you experienced any of these symptoms, make sure to contact your physician.

However, while we wouldn’t recommend taking vitamin D supplements before talking to a professional first, you can add vitamin D-rich foods to your diet. These foods include mushrooms, soy milk, fortified tofu, and oatmeal. Also, get out of your house and enjoy the first rays of sunshine. But don’t forget your SPF

Keep Yourself Active 

When I say that you keep yourself active I don’t necessarily mean that you should go out and run a marathon. Sure, you can do that if you want to, but activity comes in many different forms. When we are feeling lethargic, it can be incredibly hard to get up and go to the gym. Therefore, your best option would be to start small.

Easy daily walks, a quick ride on your bicycle, or a 30-minute YouTube yoga class, are all amazing ways to be more active, while still being gentle with your body. This can also be a great opportunity to pick up a new hobby and find new and enjoyable ways to exercise to break the pre-springtime lethargy.

Embrace Spring Food 

It’s no secret that the key to a healthy body is a healthy lifestyle. And that includes a balanced diet. Most of us indulged in our favorite comfort foods throughout the colder months, but spring is the perfect time to finally get our diets back on track. 

Take advantage of all of the locally sourced fresh fruits and vegetables that are available at the moment. You can prepare smoothies, soups, or other home-cooked meals. Eating light and easily digestible foods such as veggies will give you an energy boost while also adding nutrients to your diet to stop the pre-springtime lethargy.

Allow Yourself To Rest 

Sometimes we just have to accept the fact that our bodies need some extra rest. And that is completely fine. If you find yourself being tired even after all of this, and you are certain that there is no underlying health condition, then simply allow yourself to rest more than you usually would.

We always feel such a strong pressure to be as productive as possible. But that can’t always be healthy. Most of us were feeling motivated at the beginning of the year and worked hard on our New Year’s resolutions. 

But now that the hype has slowed down, your body might be trying to tell you that it needs a break. Don’t forget that you need at least 8 hours of sleep every day. Long nights and early mornings will start to catch up on you, and your whole body will tell you to pause. Rest is another great way to combat pre-springtime lethargy.
