Greasy Hair? These Hacks Can Help You Stretch Out Your Hair Washes

The weather is freezing, which means that nobody wants to wash their hair every day. However, that is often easier said than done. If you have super fine and greasy hair as I do, it might seem to you that it only takes a couple of hours for your hair to get dirty.

While I know how annoying it is to have an oily scalp, there are actually many different hacks that can help you stretch out your hair washes for at least a day or two. Here are my favorite ones.

Always double cleanse

We know how important it is to double-cleanse our skin, but did you know that we should also double-cleanse our scalps? Just think about it this way. While you wash your face twice a day, you probably aren’t washing your hair that often. That means that there is a lot of oil build-up on your scalp.

That, combined with the fact that we also use other products, like hairsprays and mousses, on our scalp, means that washing the scalp with shampoo just once won’t cut it. So make sure that you always double cleanse. To make sure your hair is really clean, you can also use a clarifying shampoo combined with a scalp brush once a week or once every 10 days.

Apply dry shampoo to clean hair

This sounds pretty weird, right? Like why would you apply dry shampoo to clean hair? Well, there are multiple reasons. First of all, dry shampoo will be a great way to give your hair a little bit of additional volume and body. In addition to that, it can also help your style last better.

But besides that, when applying dry shampoo to clean hair, you will notice that your hair will be significantly less oily the next day. That’s because the dry shampoo on your scalp was working overtime, and absorbing that sebum before it even had the chance to mess with you.

Clean your hair brushes

Did you know that grease can also transfer from your hair brushes to your hair? That’s why you always have to make sure that you clean your hair brushes frequently. Ideally, you would wash it every time you wash your hair. But if that is too much work for you, once a week will be just fine as well. Just use a mild soap or shampoo, rinse it with warm water, and let your brush dry on a towel.

Embrace the grease

No matter what you do your hair still seems to be getting greasy way too quickly? Then why not embrace it? I know, no one wants to walk around with super oily hair. However, on a positive note, the “clean girl” slick bun and braids are still trending. So why not use the grease on your hair to create one of these looks?

Your oily hair won’t be in your face, and you will be able to stretch out your wash for at least a day or two. Add some golden hoops, minimal makeup, and shiny lipgloss, and everyone will be thinking that you are totally fashionable and on-trend.
