What Is Baby Botox And Is It Really Worth The Hype?

In addition to the usual botox treatments that we all know, one method is becoming increasingly popular: baby Botox. It should serve as a miracle weapon against the first wrinkles – and without causing any unnatural effects to the face.

In 1992, medical couple Jean and Alastair Carruthers discovered that the neurotoxin botulinum toxin A, previously used to treat neurological movement disorders, could temporarily reduce wrinkles. Ten years later, the active ingredient, which we commonly call botox, was approved for cosmetic purposes. Since then it has enjoyed constant popularity.

However, many people are still afraid that they will lose all of their facial expressions and that their face will look like a mask due to botox. If you are a newbie to this cosmetic procedure, we would highly suggest to start off your journey with baby botox.

What is baby botox?

Baby botox has nothing to do with babies. Instead, the word baby refers to the small amount that is injected during this application. As with conventional treatment, botox is diluted and injected into the skin with a thin needle. However, in baby botox, only a fraction of the normal amount of the active ingredient is used, which is injected into the upper layer of the skin. The underlying muscle tissue remains largely undamaged. The result is more natural than with standard botox treatments. Exactly how high or low the dose is depends on the depth of the wrinkle and the desired result.

The natural expression of the face is preserved with a small amount and a gentle procedure. Baby botox can also prevent the first wrinkles.

Uses & advantages

The use of Baby botox is suitable, among other things, for wrinkles around the eyes, forehead wrinkles, frown lines, tightening in the neck and jaw area, light filling of the lips.

Baby botox is primarily characterized by a low dose of the active ingredient – and for this reason it has decisive advantages compared to treatment with a larger amount of botulinum toxin A. These include a more natural result, cheaper, faster application, less or no recovery time, more targeted application.

How does the treatment work?

With baby botox, as with the normal botox procedure, diluted botulinum toxin A is injected with a thin needle at the junction of the nerve and muscle. In this way, the release of the messenger substance at the relevant point is released and the transmission of the impulse is stopped. This means: the muscle contracts weakly or not at all. This effect lasts until the body breaks down the active ingredient again. With baby botox, this is usually the case after three months – then the effect must be renewed if desired. When treated with a higher dose of botox, the effects last longer, usually up to six months.

Treatment with baby botox usually lasts 15 minutes and takes place without anesthesia. Immediately after application, you will be able to return to everyday life. Except for a few restrictions in the first hours or days.

During this time, it is recommended to avoid sports, make-up and avoid strong sunlight. The costs of baby botox treatment are lower than for regular botox treatment. But they vary depending on the desired result and the chosen practice.
