How To Look Like A 90s Fashion Queen This Season

Trends come and go. But looking like a 90s fashion model will never make you anything less than a fashion icon. Hoops, light wash high-waisted jeans, white t-shirts, and voluminous blow-dry locks are the signature parts of any off-duty 90’s supermodel. But what if you want to take things a bit further, and look even more fashionable than Rachel Green did while working at Ralph Lauren. Well, then you came to the right place. We have made a list of fashion tips that you can incorporate into your style if you want to look like a 90s fashion queen during this summer season.

Animal print dresses

What will make you more stylish than drinking summer cocktails at a rooftop bar in a tight animal print dress? Literally nothing. We know that animal print can be a bit hard to pull off for some people, but you don’t have to go all out and look like Carole Baskin. Make sure the print is simple, and a bit abstract. You can try out a leopard print in a black and white color combination, or go for something more fun like zebra straps. Whatever you feel most comfortable in will look best on you.

Sheer fabrics

90s fashion was all about layering. And how better to layer during the summer months than with sheer fabrics. Throw a sheer blouse over a bralette and high-waisted shorts, or go all out in a sheer dress. If you decide to go with a sheer dress, make sure that it isn’t fully sheer. Rather choose one that has only sheer sleeves, for example, or choose a fabric that isn’t completely sheer and won’t show more than what you are okay with.

Velvet

If you take a look at any red carpet event from the 90s, you will notice that velvet was the fabric that everyone was crazy about. Now, because velvet definitely isn’t particularly breathable, it’s not the best option for hot summer days. However, a velvet slip dress during cooler summer nights definitely won’t let you go unnoticed. Or if you want something less formal, then a Baby Spice-inspired velvet mini dress might be the best option for you.

Corsets

Corsets are already a huge trend for this season, and they perfectly fit in with the whole 90s fashion esthetic. There are endless ways that you can combine a corset. You can wear it over a tight dress to give you more of an hourglass shape, or you can pair it with jeans and shorts for a more relaxed look. Trousers and skirts work amazingly with corsets as well, especially for nights out or summer dinners.

Tiny bags

Mini bags have been around for the last couple of years, and it seems as if the trend has slowly started to fade. However, no 90s outfit will be complete without a teeny-tiny bag in your hand. If you want to make a statement, go for a small bag in a fun and vibrant color. But if you want to keep things classy, then a black baguette bag is the way to go.
