A week or two ago, I wrote about must-have beauty essentials for the rainy season. It was only natural to extend the topic with a fashion edition too. 

Commuting in the rain is not easy, especially for those who use public transport that requires a lot of walking. If you’re in the same league, make sure to be equipped with these items to avoid any inconveniences during the day. I personally enjoy using the 4th item the most!

1. Breezy Clothing

Leave your fancy clothes for a better season. A rainy day calls for the most comfortable fit in your wardrobe. 

Choose clothes that are summer-friendly. Yes, we are aware that the title says ‘rainy days’, please read on. Fabric that can absorb perspiration and wetness without clinging to your body is an ideal choice. To learn about such fabrics, use our summer-wear guide here. 

2. Portable Umbrella

Of course, a raincoat works too, but an umbrella should be upon you at all times throughout the season. The weather can get unpredictable at times. Just when you think that a beautiful, sunny morning cannot lead to a rainy afternoon or evening, you might be proved wrong. 

3. Waterproof Bag

The most essential item on this list, a waterproof bag is a must to carry throughout the rainy season.

Choose a bag that is lightweight, and made up of water-resistant or waterproof fabric. Ideally, a backpack for heavy packers, or a drawstring bag for lightweight things. The hands-free carrying feels convenient when you’re commuting in a challenging situation. 

Women, if you prefer something more fashionable – a waterproof tote bag is the perfect choice for you. 

4. Rubber Wedges

If you think that those long, boring waterproof boots are your only footwear option during the rainy season, you might be in for a surprise. 

Rubber wedges are a high platformed footwear that looks extremely chic and are also waterproof. These will save your feet from getting wet without suffocating them. The best part? You will have a lot of designs and colors to choose from. 

5. Microfibre Hand Towel

A microfibre towel is gentler than regular towels. It comes in handy in more ways than you can assume. Especially when the weather tends to get your face and hair wet and sweaty, you might enjoy freshening up with this baby-soft fabric. 

6. Waterproof Mobile Pouch

If you’re inseparable from your phone, you must get yourself a waterproof mobile pouch. 

Most of these pouches come with a string that is meant to be worn around your neck. This nifty little accessory makes the usage of the phone very convenient during a downpour. 

7. Silica Gel

Have you seen those little white packets that come with most new purchases? That is silica gel.

Silica gel is used to absorb moisture. This property makes them very useful during the monsoon season when you need your shoes or any other closed item to keep dry and fresh. Just pop them inside your shoes when you are not wearing them.

8. Dry or Wet Tissues

Tissues are a must, no matter what the season. However, the icky out-of-rain feeling makes them all the more essential to wipe away moisture or dirt from any given area.
