How the Beauty Industry is Evolving to Welcome Men In

As the beauty industry evolves, researchers and trendsetters alike have come to the conclusion that makeup is an art and it cannot be associated with a specific gender. For ages, it has been considered a tool for women to enhance their features and make them attractive in the eyes of this world. Men were excluded from the race of self-grooming and self-actualization. If they ever had a thought of painting their faces as a canvas, the way the opposite gender does in the form of makeup, they would be ridiculed, as makeup application is perceived as a feminine activity. People were unaware of the fact that ancient men also used to apply smokey eye makeup generations ago. Now, the time has finally changed, and we are welcoming makeup on men once more.

1. MAKEUP, MASCULINITY AND MEN

It is the 21st century, an era of smartphones and digitalization, where everything is required to be ready without any delay. Suppose you are hanging out with your friends, suddenly a person raises his hand to take a selfie. In that moment, all the people in the frame would desire to look good. Women may seem less worried than men in this scenario, all thanks to makeup brands they are likely wearing.

This has caused the sudden urge to have a developed men’s beauty industry, as well.  According to multiple studies, the uncertainty of situations has pushed men towards the demand of makeup products for them.

  • Alex Dalley, the owner of (MMUK) Men Beauty Company

Alex Dalley, the owner of (MMUK) Men Beauty Company, described the mindset of society. When he launched the basic man care products like shampoo and hair gel in 2011, it was considered as an embarrassing thing for men to purchase them. They used to hide their identity in order to save their fragile misconception of masculinity from destruction. With the passage of time, more men’s beauty products are making their way in the industry.

2. SOCIAL MEDIA, A VOICE OF VOICELESS

Social media influencers have also played a vital role in breaking the stereotypical masculine image of men. They are using their efforts to get people to see what men want, not what they expect them to be. More male influencers are emerging with makeup on their faces to spread the message of acceptance among the masses.

They say that there is a difference between masculinity and self-love. You cannot belittle men for wearing makeup just because of the unquestionable teachings indoctrinated in your minds. People love their art work and praise them by pressing the like button on multiple social media platforms. .

3. NEW WORLD, NEW MEN, THE HISTORY MAKERS

This year Playboy, a men’s entertainment magazine, quit its hardcopy printing and adopted to online medium to do business. It has since smashed the record by featuring a gay man on their digital front cover. A 23-years old social media influencer, Bretman Rock, has shocked the audience with his stardom of standing against the odds. He was wearing the same bunny suit which is an iconic outfit of playboy for women throughout its publishing. He, himself, felt proud for the whole LBGT community to make a solo appearance like a hotshot.

WHY DO MEN WANT TO WEAR MAKEUP?

This shows there is an answer for those who ask questions like, “Why do men want to wear makuep?” This is happening all because of the power of social media which leaves an impact on people minds, whether it is positive or negative. The beauty industry is expanding its sources and working to make more beauty products for men. It will not be limited to skincare products. Keep an eye out for special makeup products to enhance men’s beauty with glam and glow.
